To mark Earth Day on April 22, we decided to go for a splash of (homemade) colour. The theme of this year’s event is ‘Environmental & Climate Literacy’, and so we set ourselves the challenge of making art using environmentally-friendly paint. How hard could it be?!
To make the paint, we turned to nature. Beetroot, blueberries and turmeric were just some of the ingredients that provided these vivid, striking colours. Once we’d mixed them with water and gum arabic (a natural gum made from the hardened sap of the acacia tree), we sieved the mixtures through muslin, and voilà – paint was born!
Our incredibly talented artist Louise then set about creating some absolutely beautiful watercolours inspired both by the natural world and the gorgeous views of Dublin Bay, as seen from the Huskies office.
We look forward to Louise's eco-art proudly adorning the Huskies office walls! Find out more about Earth Day here.
